  • What can you tell us about Deloitte?

Go through meticulous and comprehensive research about the company you’re applying to. Have a good knowledge about its mission and vision statement, its principles, policies, foundation year, and more.   • Why do you want to work at Deloitte?

The answer that can be a deal-breaker is saying that you want the job for money or to help your studies. You should rather say that you are eager to learn new things, want to grow as a person, explore yourself, hone your skills and gain new experience which is why you want the job. 

Example: ‘ The work environment at Deloitte is very supportive, inclusive and healthy. I am eager to learn new things, increase my career prospects, grow as a person and hone my skills through this job. Also, I love numbers and love to help people out in their financial or risk situations and Deloitte will help me do just that.’ 

  • What are your biggest strengths?

Mention your skills but not in a pompous or haughty manner. Keep the answer humble and down to earth. Say something like you easily adapt to a new environment and are capable of working in a fast-paced environment as you love speed. Tell them how your strengths will help in the growth and advancement of the company. 

Example:’ Although, I do not regard myself as a perfect person or believe that I have some extraordinary strengths, I do believe this-I have a huge potential for learning and becoming a better person each day which is my greatest strength. I am also a fast learner and settle very quickly and easily in a fast-paced environment which will be beneficial for this job that I am applying for.’

  • Do you have any weaknesses?

People make the mistake of answering this question in the negative. They portray themselves as flawlessly perfect but little do they know that the recruiters are aware of the fact that it is not possible. After all, we’re all human and each one of us has our flaws. Mention them and accept them and also tell them that you are looking forward to improving them through the skills you will learn in the company. 

Example: ‘I am a hugely flawed person and have many areas to work and improve on. But, I am looking forward to making them all better by the skills that I will learn and the experience that I will gain while working here. One of my chief weaknesses is that I overburden myself with a lot of work, which sometimes becomes a problem for me.’ 

  • Where would you like to see yourself in the next five years?

The answer to this question must always convey that your long-term career goals are aligned with the job you are applying for and are giving the interview. So tell them that you want to make a career in the finance industry or a legal advisory field. 

Example:’ I love anything and everything about numbers, finance, and management. I find great pleasure in helping people manage their finances and assisting them by giving risk advisories and solutions. Hence, I am thinking to shoot a career in the management field in a finance or legal industry’ 

  • Why should you be hired?

This is the time to list all your achievements, experiences, skills, and knowledge that you have mustered in the past. You should also tell them that you love everything about numbers and have amazing people skills, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills which will help you in the consulting environment. 

Example:’I have had experience as an associate manager in a financial advisory firm. In my time there, I have mastered the skills of problem-solving, teamwork, meeting deadlines on time, managing the fast-paced environment, etc. I also have amazing people skills and great verbal and written communication skills which will help me interact with the clients better.’

  • How would you make the consulting experience better for an unhappy client?

You should answer this by telling them that first of all, you will find out the cause of the client’s unhappiness. If it would be because of a clause, you would help explain it to them in the best way you can. If it is because of the service, you would apologize politely and do your best to make it better. 

Example:’I will first ask the client politely what it is that is causing them trouble. If it would be because of a part of the agreement, I would try to negotiate it so that it suits both of us. If they complain about the consultancy service, I would try to make it better for them and apologize for the inconvenience. Or if it would be because of inefficient service, I would do my best to make it better.’

  • Do you have any questions for us?

Show your eagerness and interest by asking them questions about your pay, benefits, work hours, and allowances amongst other things. This is a question you must always answer as this concerts your curiosity and involvement in the process. 

Example:’Yes, I do have some questions. How will I be paid/what will be my benefits/what will be the working hours/what is the work environment like/ what is going to be my chief responsibility/will I get any paid leaves/what is the scope for improvement in the position?’

  • What is your take on diversity and its importance in the workplace?

This is a very important question. You should tell the recruiters that you fully support diversity and believe that it is the essence of any working organization. 

Example:’ I strongly believe that no workplace is a healthy workplace unless it promotes diversity. Diversity is the very essence of any workplace and is most important for making it welcoming for the employees as well as the customers. The only way to succeed as an organization is to include people from all social backgrounds and always have an inclusive and wholesome approach.’ 

  • Do you have any experience?

Although there’s no partiality over the experienced and inexperienced candidates and Deloitte welcomes everyone, even those with no experience at all, it is always good to pitch in about your prior experiences as that will give a better insight into your skills and knowledge.

  • Why should you be chosen over others?

The interviewers need to know why you stand out from the rest. What is it that you have within you that makes you the best person suited for the job? Your answer must be confident, clear, and concise. At the same time, you must not boast about your achievements or point out the flaws in your fellow applicants. That is never a symbol of good behavior. Instead, you should only talk about yourself. For a good answer, read all the job qualifications and requirements and align your answer according to them.

  • How much salary do you expect?

The money questions are always the trickiest ones. You must not sound like someone who wants the job just for the sake of money but at the same time, you also don’t want to sell yourself short. Undertake meticulous research about the history of the company salary offered to its employees at your position and then mention a substantial salary range. 

Example:’After going through the daily challenges that the job will face and the amount of effort that it will require, and considering my prior experience and skills, I would appreciate a pay of $XX.X per hour/per month/annually.’ 

  • How do you deal with the pressure of a busy environment? 

We all know that Deloitte is an ever-bustling firm given its popularity and demand. Never answer this question saying that you never or seldom go through stress. Instead, give a realistic and practical reply that you try to remain calm and take one step at a time to handle stress and pressure. 

Example:’My all-time mantra to deal with a stressful and busy environment is to take one step at a time. I do not get anxious over the tasks that I have to complete by the end of the day but always look forward to completing the task that is currently at hand. You can stay in touch by regularly asking about your interview and their stance on you. You may even drop by at the store which will convey your eagerness and willingness for the job.

But at the same time, remember not to pester your receivers with unnecessary emails and messages. That practice will turn a good intention of yours into a blunder.
