story: how i become an digital marketing manager
The Journey
Before I tell you about myself, I would like to share with you the most important advice that helped me on my career journey and that is – “knock and it shall be opened”.
Whatever your situation, you should always try to apply for that job, even if you doubt you’ll get it, or you feel the position’s demands are too high. Don’t doubt yourself, you never know what may happen if you never try. Send that CV, go to that interview, you’ll be surprised at what you can achieve
Beginning
When I first started out as a digital marketer, I was 19 years old, still in the middle of my digital marketing course. I applied for a position without any expectations of actually getting it, and yet I managed to get it on the first try. This allowed me to start getting valuable experience while still continuing with my course, jumping ahead of my classmates who were still studying.
After a year of working at my first position as an SEO and PPC specialist, I was able to land a much better position at Ranky, a digital marketing agency that specializes in helping startups around the world grow their business and traffic. My time there was valuable and helped me learn how to apply and hone my digital marketing skills to various different B2C and B2B industries – apps, ecommerce, software, and much much more. There I was able to work with almost every digital marketing tool or platform available – from crucial SEO tools such as Google Analytics and Google Search Console to PPC platforms such as Google Ads and Taboola. This experience proved to be crucial for the progress in my career.
Now
After a year and half at Ranky, I managed to work and help over 20 different clients, I felt that I was ready for my next challenge and wanted to bring change to a company from within. I was able to land a job as the in-house digital marketing manager for a fascinating B2B startup by the name of Seebo. Seebo is an Industry 4.0 platform that helps manufacturers achieve better business outcomes, and I am proud to be a part of its journey.
Future
I love my job and what I do, digital marketing is my passion and I take great pleasure in seeing how companies benefit from my work and are able to achieve greater traffic, leads, and ultimately revenue. No one knows what the future holds, but I definitely hope to keep doing this for a long time.
Knowledge
There is a saying about wisdom that I love – “Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it”.
This is not to take away from the value of education, which is fundamental for your success, but to help iterate how it’s never enough. You need to keep being curious and strive to learn more and more, get practical experience with different jobs and industries, and even then, it’ll still take you a lifetime to reach true wisdom.
There are several books and websites that helped me on the way to becoming the digital marketing manager I am today, and I would strongly advise you to read them if you’re interested in pursuing a career in the field.
