How was your University time?
University time was a great experience. I recommend it for anyone provided you don’t go into debt that you can’t get out of; for me at one point, due to poor choices, I thought I was not going to be able to transition, but I was blessed, and while I didn’t finish I learned a lot and wouldn’t take it back. Later, I would like even when I was working as a training take a college course, but I only selected the courses that I enjoyed, which made sense. Sometimes, that was a great ability to have to worry about taking things that didn’t pertain to my path and future.

Why did you choose a career in this field?
Sales chose me. You could say I was always built for it and into it as a child. Once I found out I was good and could excel, I poured everything into it. From there, I learned to manage and rose to a trainer and later a regional who could manage multiple locations and aspects of business infrastructure. Overall I had fun and loved what I did. That’s key; if you don’t love it, leave it, I always say don’t be bound to the job or career you dread. Believe in yourself, being broke actually won’t kill you but it will reveal character and its only up from the bottom if you ever find yourself there. From this, I was able to have the skills to open up my own business and Succeed.

What was your first job or nuggets from jobs you had that helped you get to where you are today?
First job was a store called Omalia’s food market in Indiana I didn’t enjoy it but my mother wouldn’t let me duck the work she said love it or leave it but if your going to do it do it right and work hard. That stuck with me. Some other nuggets was that always be forward thinking in business and life , plan and strategize , Books are your friend read read read. Nothing stays the same in business and you have to adapt constantly. You see that now today a lot of companies and brands have to pivot.

How did you prepare for the interview?
I thought about what would bring value to the readers and just began writing, a lot of times me I just try to be organic with my convo and authentic.

Can you provide some book recommendations?

So when it comes to books I have a lot depends on what you have a appetite for here is a short list :

Things are changing very fast in the industry; how do you keep yourself updated. Please list techniques or newsletters, podcasts, events, etc.
I stay up to date with podcasts, Daily news digest, finance, business, tech.

Advice for someone looking for a job ?
Look for something your passionate about , but also it depends on age…. don’t be afraid to take a job beneath you that has great upside like a intern or a low paying job next to the right connections your network and who you meet and impress is powerful and can lead to future benefits. A great saying I heard …You can’t connect the dots looking forward you can only connecting them looking backward.

Why do you think you were selected among other candidates?

I always put my best foot forward and give my all in doing so I have been fortunate to be able to be in winning positions. I also take my reputation seriously and guard it with my life so this will be something that I’m known for in a positive way that opens other doors.

Lessons from jobs that you couldn’t get.
Jobs that I didn’t get were for a reason it was not for me and the ones I turned down after the interview and being offered I knew it wasn’t for me, and the truth is whatever was next always worked for the best.
