Introduction: This is a critical position in the Institution of Journalism Studies’ strategic advancement of technical additional assistance for learning and teaching. They will lead to the strategic design and implementation of research and development plans, policies, and processes by working with the Departmental Administrator, the Director of Research and Education, and other university employees. Who is the teaching and learning manager?

In all areas of program & content implementation in the Classroom, the Teaching and Learning Manager offers instructions, direction, and organizational support to the Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching. This involves procedures for evaluating, developing, approving, and accrediting curricula. And also in the creation and implementation of plans for the Faculty’s and the University’s overall development and growth of programs and subjects. The Learning and Teaching Manager plays an important role in the Faculty. Managers must also have strong personal and intergroup skills and communicate better, consult, manipulate, & negotiate with individuals from diverse cultural skills and experiences. The ability to compile, collate, analyze, report on, and communicate information efficiently and accurately is needed, as is a good understanding of consumer service delivery. This is really a full-time position with typical hours of 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Monday through Friday. However, due to natural workload variations correlated with the position’s duties, it may be necessary to work outside of certain hours on request, with adequate compensation.

Role of a Teaching and Learning Manager

The Learning and Teaching Manager position is a new position that will create projects and introduce initiatives to encourage student involvement and achievement in all student classes, emphasizing closing achievement gaps, enhancing retention, and increasing participation. The position would also require the manager to supervise a team of employees dedicated to creating an array of options for students to participate in co-curricular activities, curriculum growth, and other aspects of the Campus community. The ideal candidate would have prior executive experience in higher education, particularly personnel and resource management, and extensive experience in either Academic Achievement and/or Retention & Achievement, knowing the obstacles and barriers faced by various student groups. They’ll have exceptional communication skills, as well as the ability to interact and influence both students and faculty.

  • Create, establish, and enforce creative Department-wide strategies to put the Department’s teaching and learning plan into practice. The Manager of Teaching and Learning and the Departmental Manager can assign you to lead on instructional projects or other geographically sensitive elements.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Teaching and Learning on the tactical development and execution of learning and teaching methods, processes, and policies, meaning that they are properly recorded and shared. As required, take the lead on implementing specific aspects of the Department’s learning and teaching plan.
  • Oversee and manage 600 employees of the learning and teaching techniques, administrative service number, including the Artistic Media Team, with clear and constructive management and level managers.
  • Supervise all activities in Learning and Teaching, involving assessments, regulatory compliance and evaluation, curriculum production, accreditation, punctuality, and so on, as well as checking for compliance with University rules and procedures and writing-related reports. As requested, provide feedback and encouragement to the team, and keep the Departmental Manager up – to – date on operations.
  • Work collaboratively with the Learning Technologist to ensure that technical innovations are implemented to meet the Department’s functional learning and teaching needs and to endorse the International Education team’s activities.
  • Participant in the Learning and Teaching Council of the Department and other education department committees as necessary.
  • Monitor all Departmental programs, ensuring that learning and teaching processes are compatible and represent Faculty and University requirements and collaborate closely with the educational team to ensure collaboration working.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining continuous improvement in all learning and teaching activities, identifying for improving performance in teaching implementation and developing innovative solutions to ensure continuous growth, liaising with academic staff, and, where required, linking in with Department-wide projects.
  • Shall Be responsible for the Department’s continuous improvement processes, including leading responses to the Quarterly Reflection and Quarterly Review and QAA assessments as required, in collaboration with the Manager of Learning and Teaching. Work closely with the TEF Manager in developing and implementing the Department’s TEF response.
  • Oversee the establishment of program university fees, ensuring that they are checked every year, that any modifications are justified, and that sufficient internal approval processes are implemented. As required, consult with Strategy, Planning, & Governance.
  • Manage all-new route proposals and course/module improvements, ensuring that all departmental approval processes are followed, and administrative consequences are taken into account and guiding faculty members as required.
  • Assist the Departmental Manager and Manager of Learning and Teaching with Systems Send Planning, liaising with faculty members as needed to ensure that all learning and teaching tasks are correctly described and that all subcontracted teaching and marking agreements are in place.

FUNCTIONS
