I am always concerned about my job, what to do?

Work plays an important aspect in the life of a human being. By working, one can frame their ways of freedom, which can be either financial or social or act as an implementation to fulfill their own goals and desires. This is the probable reason that young lads are ambitioned to seek better jobs for themselves at the earliest to have their ways of freedom later. However, there is a quite possible which cannot be ignored that the job which seems to be a better option now may not meet your expectations later, maybe after working for the next two to three years or so on and you end up being concerned about your job.

Before heading towards what you can do if you are too much concerned about your job, you will be startled to know that only 45 percent of workers say they are either satisfied or extremely satisfied with their jobs across America. On the contrary, the majority are dissatisfied with their current job profiles after working for a while and now have been stuck in that phase of life which is somehow challenging. But as said, where there is a will, there is a way. So, some ways are listed out that can help you deal with it and come out with the best possible ways.

Peeking Into Some Probable Reasons For It

Talking about the causes of being concerned about jobs, it varies from person to person. For example, one might not be satisfied with the job role for which they have been employed or may not find similar thoughts in the firm working for or expected to have a better job profile than the current one but couldn’t leave the current job as they might not be financially independent and so on. Moreover, jobs being laid off due to the current ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has also become a matter of concern for people to find new jobs.

What Should I Do To Get Out Of It?

One of the most prominent ways to get out of it would be to figure out what makes you concerned about that job. You can seek help from your colleagues, firm’s seniors, friends, or anyone you are comfortable sharing and try to frame out what should be the next step for you. In most cases, it will help you out. But despite putting in the effort, even if you cannot figure it out, you should ask some serious questions to yourself, and most importantly, you have to be honest with yourself.

Questions To Be Asked To Yourself?

  • Are you too much concerned about your current job?
  • Is the current job degrading your physical, mental, and social well-being?
  • Have you honestly tried to figure out what is making you concerned about the job and still haven’t able to come up with a solution?
  • Do you desperately want to get rid of your current job?
  • Have you any other source of income apart from this job so that you don’t have any sort of trouble looking after your family?
  • Do you seriously interested to carry out the thing you are more indulged in doing for the rest of your life?
  • Do you have the courage, willpower, and dedication to discovering something new in yourself?

If you come up with all these questions with a “YES,” you should head upon the thing you are more indulged in doing and can quit your current job. However, if you develop any of these questions with a “NO,” you should figure out some other ways despite quitting your job. There are still ways to get through this and help you lead your life with ease which is mentioned below.

A Vision To Different Approaches: Different approaches can vary from person to person to get out of it.

  • An Approach For Early 20s: If you’re in your early 20s and have not succumbed to any financial burden and are still concerned about your job, you should prefer to explore. However, after two to three years working for the firm, you realize that this job profile is not for you, and you are not in favor of carrying on the tussle. It is because you might not have explored new things that excite you or you feel you are good in and can carry for the next twenty-thirty years. But, in this scenario, the beautiful part is you have the time and energy to opt for something else in which you have an actual interest. Furthermore, you are not bound by anything, so you should keep exploring new fields and enhance in-demand skills within you to easily grab the other job opportunities you are looking for.
  • An Approach For Late 20s: Now, If you are in your late 20s and planning to get settled in your life though concerned about your job, it might not be wise to seek different job opportunities, especially in a time of job crisis. However, I am not saying that it will be the worst idea, but a safer approach would be to enhance your skills for the job profile you are currently indulging in. This way, you will reach greater heights in that firm, which would sound more fruitful for you, and eventually, you will be less concerned about it. Apart from it, if some other job profiles excite you and you have faith in yourself that you can outshine in that field, you can opt for it, but the only condition that exists here is you should have a primary source of income till you grab that job. Then, it will prove to be a safe and secure play for you and your relationship. You can also put your hands in start-ups and become entrepreneurs if you have that will to do. You can have multiple options to discover even in your late 20s, but it will be sensible only when you have any fixed sources of income.
  • An Approach For 30s and 40s:
    • If you are in your 30s or 40s, it will not be sensible to opt for different job profiles as you are concerned about the current job. However, I am not emphasizing it. As said, age is just a number. You can discover your passion at any age. You just need to have the courage and will to do what you want.
    • But by that time, you have most probably got married and raised children, and you have the responsibility of your family too, so the next step has to be well planned and sensible because any contradictions might affect the rest of your life. To be honest, at this age you probably not be able to grab a new job due to your age factor since most firms hire young lads. So, if you are too much concerned about your current job and desperate enough to quit it, you have to be an entrepreneur and build something of your own to earn your livelihood. However, it will somehow hamper your life if the current job is the only source of income for you and you don’t have any other primary sources of income. So, you should be wise enough to take the next action in that instance.
    • Apart from it, you can now do that you can be indulged in your passion or the thing which makes you happy along with your job. It could be either playing a sport, cooking, painting, reading or spending quality time with family, friends and so on. You can also consult psychiatrists or therapists so that they can help you to deal with it in a better way. You very well know that some things in life we have to just accept it as it is and you can’t contradict likewise you have to accept your job as a part of your life. This will help you to change your perspective towards seeing your job. It will help you to get rid of overthinking, you will be less tensed and concerned about your job and ultimately it will help you to lead a happy and more peaceful life. Living life to the fullest should be one’s ultimate priority.

Conclusion
