Dragonfly in Amber (1992)

It is Diana’s second novel which was published in the year 1992 and was a hit. The previous volume was left, on a cliffhanger which was the main reason, why the second volume was a total hit. The author revealed a lot about the characters in this novel. Claire and Jamie were starting to fall in love with each other, and thus, they decided to find jobs and sustain their lives in the struggling conditions of Scotland. They start supporting each other. The novel helps us understand the protagonists’ liking towards each other and how they expressed it throughout the volume.

Voyager (1993)

It is Daina’s third novel which she published in 1993, and it mostly talks about Claire and how she returned to save herself, leaving Jamie in the clutches of the empire to die. She gives birth to a girl and names her Brianna. She is Jamie’s daughter. Getting separated from Jamie helps Claire understand how much she loves him and wants him back into her life. Thus, she wishes to go back again to 1745 and meet the love of his life again. But here, she is left with a choice to either choose Jamie and go back to the year 1745 or choose Brianna and stay in the 20th century forever. It causes her to question her reality.

Claire chooses to find Jamie and her husband helps her in the same. This story is full of romance and talks about Claire’s attempts to meet Jamie again. Drums of Autumn (1996)

It is the fourth novel written by Diana and was published, by her in the year 1996. This novel is a follow-up to the last volume called Voyager. This novel completely focuses on two new protagonists who aren’t Jamie and Claire but their daughter Brianna. This story focuses on her life and how she travels back in time to meet her mother and father, Jamie and Claire. This story also focuses on Roger, Claire’s real husband from the 20th century, and how he starts liking Brianna and thus accompanies her down the cleft of stones to 1745.

On her way to meet Claire and Jamie, she faces a lot of hardships that make her lose hope but still, she motivates herself to continue her search. She even gets raped on her journey, which makes her lose hope even more but finally, she finds hope as she meets her family again. Jamie and Claire take good care of her and provide her with everything that she wants as she faces a lot of hardships to find them.

The Fiery Cross (2001)

It is the fifth novel of the Outlander series and was published, in the year 2001. It takes us through the various life events of Jamie, Claire, Brianna, and her husband, Roger. The novel is based, in North Carolina in the United States where everyone has shifted to attend a marriage. It helps us understand the overall plot a little better and get more close to the characters of the story. Brianna and Roger can be seen at the forefront of this novel, and the story revolves around them a lot.

Later in the story, Roger gets in trouble, and Jaime and Claire try to help him get out of this troublesome situation. A Breath of Snow and Ashes (2005)

It is the sixth novel written by Diana and was published, in the year 2005. This novel is set in a completely different age. All the previous volumes were either based in the 20th century or the year 1745, but this volume is set in 1772 when America was going through a deadly war. The novel covers up a lot of events that have happened in the past and places them perfectly in her story that surrounds the two characters, Jamie and Claire.

It’s the period of the American War and Jamie is ordered, by the Governor to form a militia to fight during the war. This part gives us a lot of insight into the past and how things were during that time. As Claire, Roger and Brianna were travelers from the future, they knew the American war would end after three years, and that’s when America would be free. They thus needed to make a plan to sustain themselves through those years. It was also somehow known that Jamie died in the year 1776. It concerned the family even more.

An Echo in the Bone (2009)

It is the seventh novel that was written by Diana and it was published, in the year 2009. This novel uncovers the secrets of whether Jamie died or is still alive. In this volume, we see Brianna and Roger go back to the 20th century to save their lives and their children’s lives, but Jamie and Claire decide to stay. The novel continues with the search for gold which only Jem, Brianna, and Roger’s kid knew about, but he refused to answer any questions. 

When Brianna and Roger return to the 20th century to save their lives, their lives become even harder. They get followed and looted on their way, and when they reach the 20th-century, their kid, Jem, gets kidnapped. It is when we see our main protagonist Jamie come up to the picture and help the couple. Revealing the plot twists wouldn’t be a great idea, and thus we recommend you to read the novel.

Written in My Own Heart’s Blood (2014)

It is the eighth novel out of the Outlander series written by Diana and was published, in the year 2014. It is the latest novel of the series, after which they haven’t published any new volumes from the series. In this volume, we can easily see a twist in the tale where Jamie, is seen nowhere and, Claire gets married again to save her own life. Whether they unite again or forget each other can only be known after you read the novel. It’s an interesting one. 

In the novel, we see a lot of new characters, but one main character that we see is Willam, Jamie’s father. He gets upset with Jamie for some of the other reasons, and that’s why he leaves him and goes on his way. This novel covers a lot of the father-son relationship that they share and how Jaime finds him back. During this time, to save the whole family, Jamie, Claire, their son, Brianna, Roger, and his children move back to the 18th century.

Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone (2021)

It is the ninth novel written by Diana, which will be released this year in 2021. It’s the latest novel written by her and fans are all set to grab this new book that is about to release on 23rd November 2021. The volume would break the cliffhanger of the last novel and reveal a lot about Claire and Jamie, whether they would get back together or Jamie would die due to his ill fate. It’s a novel set in the 18th century where Jaime, Claire, Brianna, and Roger travel to save themselves and their children.  

Wherever the family travels trouble follows them. The novel covers the family’s bad experiences in the 18th century. This novel will also cover a different angle of Jamie and Claire’s love story.
