How to define yourself?- How to answer this question to become successful?

How to define yourself? How to answer this question to become successful? Why is it important to define yourself for success?

Do you ever think of what your life would have looked like if you took that one step that you’ve been avoiding for the whole of eternity? Or, have you ever wondered how things could have been different if you just did that one thing differently? Or if you tried to solve that puzzle just one more time? If you didn’t give up? So, let’s see How to define yourself?

You would’ve been in a very different place from what you are in right now, and that is a fact.

The human brain is very complex to understand unless you decide it isn’t. This article is going to talk about how you can define yourself to potentially achieve success in life.

Defining Yourself:

In simple terms, defining yourself includes almost everything about you. About what your likes and dislikes are, what makes you confident, what motivates you, what is your greatest put-off, where you’d like to see yourself if not where you currently are, and everything inside the lines.

To understand and well, realize all of this, you need to first unravel to yourself and, in all honesty, while at it, what you truly desire of life. This is the first step towards becoming exactly who you want to be, but how would you do it? We shall talk about this further.

How to discover who you are as a person:

  • Identify Your True Potential: Everyone is good at something or the other. Then some believe they are worthless, which is exactly where they go wrong.

The more you feed yourself lies, the more you come to terms with the fact that all those lies are, in fact, reality. This is the foulest fraud you could play with your mind and what would lead you to your doom.

The fact of the matter being, you become who you think you are, and you are the only person who could change that, by crook or hook.

  • Ask yourself ‘Why?’: The next step to discover your ideal self is to ask yourself why you want to be who you want to be. You don’t just randomly wake up one morning to learn that everything around you has changed for the better. You work for what you want, not just in monetary terms but with yourself as well.

This doesn’t happen overnight; it happens over time and learning to embrace everything that’s in between, all the ups and downs and failures and successes, all of it is eventually going to pay off if you simply tell yourself you can do it, that no matter what, you’re going to achieve whatever you want in your life.

  • Persevere: Be determined to work for that one goal that means the world to you. Imagine you won’t get another chance to achieve this and work for it like it is your last and final day. Perseverance is one of the foremost concepts for you to endeavor, and honestly speaking, it goes a long way, and you on the prospective front would thrive.

Why is it important to define yourself to achieve success?

Success comes to those who wish to face the consequences and work for them. Imagine a scenario where you’re one step away from winning a marathon, but you decide to give up because you’re just too tired. Would that be the reason you’d give everyone when they ask you why you didn’t step that one step? It’s not just embarrassing but rationally speaking, you wouldn’t dare do it because you know how much that would hurt and if it means that much to you (which it does because why would you participate if it didn’t matter to you?), you won’t give up on it or yourself.

We face challenges many times in our lives, and we might be required to constantly take that one step to achieve our goals, but we come up with vague reasons to feed our minds and direct them to do what we think is easy. But, unfortunately, that’s where most of our dreams go and die. So for this to not happen, we need to keep telling our minds that we can do better, that if you don’t win today, you sure would tomorrow, that if you don’t get your first place today, you sure will bag it tomorrow, that no matter what happens, giving up on that dream of yours, simply isn’t worth it, you’ve come too far to do that, and the regret of not trying just one more time is going to haunt you for the rest of your life.

Feeding your mind optimistic and motivational, such as what’s previously mentioned, will signal to your mind that you’re strong enough to conquer. This is the reason every one of us, no matter in what walk of life, has to know how to define ourselves. For example, suppose you define yourself as someone who just isn’t good enough for anything or anyone. In that case, that is exactly what you tend to become at the end of the day; likewise, if you define yourself as somebody who just doesn’t give up, no matter how many times you fall, that is who you become.

Substantially conceptualizing the whole idea, we could quote what Oprah Winfrey once said, “Do the one thing you think you cannot do. Fail at it. Try again. Do better the second time. The only people who never tumble are those who never mount the high wire. This is your moment. Own it.”

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q1. How do I not give up on myself?

A2. It’s indeed easier said than done. You’ll face situations in your life where you would start t believe that you are completely useless, that anything you do just doesn’t help you or anyone around. Thus, you decide that the easiest way out of all this is to simply give up on yourself; that is exactly what you have to NOT do. These trying and testing instances are the times when you’ve to be your strongest; there is genuinely nobody in the world who can do that for you, then you.

On a positive note, it is not necessary for you to completely forget about everything else when you’re trying to achieve this goal; you need to take a break, ponder over the things you’ve done, even the smallest of goals that you’ve achieved so far count.

Q2. Is an Identity crisis normal while searching for my identity?

A2. It is normal to face an identity crisis while you work with your identity achievement. Identity achievement is when you come to realize your true potential and what you can do with it in the long run, the things you’re good and bad at, and the things you are passionate about.

Individuals mostly discover identity achievement in their adolescence (15-18yrs of age). This is when they realize that all the positive aspects in their behavior and the caliber and potential they possess within themselves could contribute to helping them get to where they want to be in life. Still, sometimes because of certain situations, they are unable to achieve this dream.

For instance, a basketball player loses his leg in a car accident; Only yesterday was he dreaming of becoming a professional basketballer and taking up basketball as a career, but today he no longer knows where he sees himself in another five years. This kind of dilemma is when an individual faces an identity crisis. Truthfully, getting out of this vicious cycle of self-doubt and questionable decisions could be difficult sometimes.

Q3. Should I fabricate self-love to find myself?

A3. To find yourself, there is no need for you to fabricate self-love hoping to deceive your mind. Self-love should come to you naturally and if you do not feel like you deserve that, let me tell you, you are incredibly wrong. No matter how much they put themselves down, everyone deserves love, and self-love is the foremost in that aspect.

You cannot keep feeling guilty about the things that have happened in the past. To move on and be a better version of yourself, you need to make peace with the fact that no matter what, you wouldn’t keep blaming yourself for the instances you haven’t been able to handle or the ones that you could have handled and failed to do so in the past. If need be, you might also consider apologizing to the people you’ve done wrong to, starting with yourself because none has been meaner to you than you.

Lastly, even if you do believe that you can deceive your mind into thinking that you do respect yourself and that you would do anything for yourself, at the end of the day, it is you whom you’re fooling. Can you afford to live with that guilt?
