  1. Let go of the past.

Do you often find it difficult to let go?  When you hold the past resentment, you often forget your current reality and the blessings you have. Resisting something or holding on to a thing or person can overlook your ability to see the good in life and which is why you take your life for granted. Until you can’t let go of the emotional pain attached to a specific thing, you cannot see the beautiful things that exist in your life.

Here are some tips that can help you let go :

  • Acknowledge the past event and understand it’s over.
  • Start taking responsibility for your actions.
  • Stop being a chaser and start being a magnitude of attraction.
  • Live in the present.
  • Seek professional help if necessary.
  1. Believe in yourself.

The other reason when you take your life for granted is when you do not believe in yourself. We take so many things for granted, including our abilities and skills. Sometimes we don’t exactly know what defines and shapes us. I didn’t know my potential until last year when I pen down my first content. Do you know why this happens? Because we assume we have to learn something from the outside to become a successful person. Well, there is nothing wrong with approaching external sources to shape your skills. But first of all, you need to have faith and confidence in yourself and your abilities. Then, you can be happy and optimistic. When you start believing in yourself, you will stop ignoring the blessings that surround you.

  1. Stop worrying about the future.

Our mind is continuously working and running around either the past or worrying about the future. We always attach our happiness to a perfect job, perfect vacay or more money. When we align ourselves to a past event or a future outcome, we forget about our present, that present in which we are living. Sometimes when we are in the gym or a shopping mall, we pick up the wrong things just because we are thinking about something from the past or worrying about the future. While having these thoughts, we forget to enjoy our present moment. Whatever will happen in the future will happen! So stop worrying about it and enjoy what you have until it’s gone. Focus more on your surroundings, the people you have beside you, and the current work that you are doing. Start living and enjoying the present more.

  1. Start appreciating what you already have.

“Gratitude” is the key to have an abundant life. Expressing gratitude towards something means you are grateful for having that thing in your life. When you appreciate what you already have, you can never think of taking anything for granted. In this way, you would not get sad or upset about not having some particular things, and you would get happy about those things you have.

Ways to cultivate gratitude in your life:

  • Say Thank You to everyone you meet daily.
  • Keep a gratitude journal and write about 10 things you are grateful for each day.
  • Say Thank You to God every time you wake up and go to bed.
  • Count your blessings when you feel sad or upset.
  • Acknowledge and appreciate everyone who does something for you.

When you make gratitude a part of your life, you will forget about the shortcomings you have and start embracing everything.

  1. Never compare yourself to others.

Comparison between yourself and others can be as dangerous as attempting to end the life. Yes, when you have a mindset that someone is better than you, you are disrespecting yourself that leads to self-hatred, and in some cases, self-harm. Your confidence tends to lose, and you feel lonely and become depressed. The big question here is, Why do you compare yourself to others? The need to get the same height as others or being in a happy relationship with someone else is okay. However, instead of criticizing yourself for what you don’t have, start working on what you already have. This does not have to be in a self-hate mode as you can love yourself and still improve your strengths. Once you stop comparing your journey with others, you will understand that everyone has different blessings, and you won’t feel that you lack something!

  1. Change your perspective.

Another best way to stop taking everything for granted is to start seeing things differently. Taking for granted means, you usually care less about those things than you care for other stuff in general. Why? Because you know that these things or people are always there for you. For instance, when you get into a relationship with someone, you make him/her your priority and start neglecting your friends and family. It’s not that you do so intentionally, but you are so much in love with that person that every other thing starts to fade away in front of your eyes. So, the best way to appreciate your life and the people inside it is to think differently. When you would allow your mind to change your perspective, you will stop neglecting the fantastic people you have in your life.

  1. Celebrate your life.

A beautiful quote that exemplifies this statement is- “ The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.”– Oprah Winfrey. There are so many blessings, and prayers manifested that you don’t even know. Remember when you were praying to get your car and, finally, you got one. Like this, so many of your prayers have been answered by the universe. Take some time and write about the goals you have achieved, things you have manifested, and the right people you have in your life. Sometimes our happiness is there in front of us, yet we travel far to be happy. It is in the sunset, while for others, it is being surrounded by their loved ones. Find out where your happiness lies. You can also use positive affirmations before you start your day and thank you notes at night before going to bed to remain happy throughout the day. Celebrate your life, the people you have, and you would see how easy it is to stay happy.

Final Words

We all face difficulties and challenges in our life. It’s not that a successful or a rich person does not deal with such situations. However, they know how to mold any event according to their will. Remember, it’s all up to you how you address any situation and how you will win out of it. When you stop taking your life for granted, you would realize everything was here in front of you, and you were worrying without any reason.
