Bible Verses About Leadership

In this article, we will learn about leadership skills from our Master God. He wants us to live a perfect life without sin. So, he gave us the Bible, which covers all the aspects of human life for humans to live perfect lives. One of many aspects is Leadership skills.

The following are some of the Bible verses about Leadership

Leader a role model for all

“Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith”. Hebrews 13:7

In the above bible verse, God points out leaders as role models to their people. A leader should be perfect in all his ways. An ideal leader will inspire his followers to be perfect. If leaders are faulty, their followers will also choose the wrong way. It will eventually lead to the fall of that community because God hates imperfect humans.

Receptive leader a good leader

“Where there is no guidance the people fall, But in the abundance of counsellors there is victory.” Proverbs 11:14

A leader should not be self-righteous. The perfect example is Moses. God asked Moses to speak to the rock to get water. Instead, Moses struck the rock twice which is an act of disobeying God. In this scenario, Moses was the leader and God acted as his counsellor.

Moses was self-righteous and he did not listen to his counsellor and this act ended Moses’ dream of entering into Canon. If Moses was receptive he would have entered Canon.

A good leader knows the need of his people

“Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, And attend to your herds;” Proverbs 27:23

The perfect example of this leadership quality is our Master Jesus. Jesus knew that His people were suffering from a disease called sin. Jesus knew He was the medicine to cure the disease. So Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross to redeem his people from sin. Jesus knew His people’s needs and worked to solve the needs of His people.

A good leader fulfils his promise

“Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.” Matthew 5:37

A good leader should blatantly say what he can and cannot do to his people. He should not issue fake promises to gain the support of his people. If a leader fails to fulfil his promise, people will not trust him. Further, the leader will lack respect among people. An imperfect leader will create an unstable society.

A good leader knows what is right to speak

“Whoever guards his mouth and tongue, Keeps his soul from troubles.” Proverbs 21:23

The words of a leader create a powerful impact on people. So a leader should always think twice before speaking. Nowadays, we can see many political leaders who get into trouble by saying unfair words while delivering their speeches. Leaders who misguard their mouths and tongue lose their value among people.

A good leader follows the policy of righteousness

“It is an abomination for kings to commit wicked acts, For a throne is established on righteousness.”

The throne is a seat of righteousness. God is a king who sits on righteousness seat. The throne where a King sits represents the throne of God. A king acts as a representative of God. Being a representative of God, a King should walk in the way of God. When a king does wicked things by sitting on the seat of God, it is like shaming God. So a leader should always do righteous things by sitting on the seat of God.

A leader should be a servant

“But among you, it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant.” Matthew 20:26

Jesus washed the feet of his disciples. This act of Jesus stunned his disciples because a leader will not clean the feet of his servants. Now we will find why Jesus washed the feet of his disciples. Usually, leaders never equate them with ordinary people. Leaders consider themselves above ordinary people. A leader has to serve people but leaders forget this fundamental principle. They love to be served by the people.

Jesus is a king. He never considered his people below him. He equated himself with His people and reminded all His disciples that a leader should serve his servants.

Conclusion

We learned leadership qualities not from humans but from our Master God. He is a perfectionist. Everything given by him is perfect. So follow these words of God about leadership skills and reap the fruit.
