In this article, you will not only find the most probable questions you will be asked in the FedEx interview but will also learn how to answer them properly with some bonus key points.

What is FedEx?

FedEx Corporation is an American courier service company operating worldwide. Frederick W. Smith founded it on 5th May 1971. FedEx is headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, United States.

Some key points to be noted before going for an interview:

  1. Do deep research on the company through their website. It is considered mandatory to pass an interview.
  2. Dress up well. Please do not wear clothes as if you’re going to a basketball match. Put some effort and be smart and presentable.
  3. Prepare an outstanding resume. Mention your skills and your relevant job experience if you have any.
  4. The interview with FedEx will probably last for 30 to 50 minutes depending on how you answer the questions.
  5. If you do not have any previous work experience in the courier industry, it is totally fine because they are going to train you anyway.
  6. You may already know this but they will drug test you. It’s going to be a lab drug test so be prepared for that.
  7. The most important thing to pass an interview is to express your interest in the job. Show them that you are enthusiastic about it.

Here are the top 15 questions you could be asked in an interview with FedEx:

  • Tell me about yourself.

Try to answer this question properly because it is an opening question, and they will judge you for this. Describe yourself with your skills and hobbies, and please keep it short and straightforward.

Example Answer: “I am XY years old, and I did my high school diploma from XY university. I have been into fitness for the past 3 years. I have worked in the courier company for a year and a half. And I would put myself as a confident, motivated, and hard-working person.”

  • Why should we hire you to work at FedEx?

The way you answer this question will tell the hiring manager so much about yourself, so answer it properly. Mention all the qualities you possess that you think would be beneficial for the job. But make sure, to be honest, because you have to show them all of that once you are hired.

Example Answer: “I am enthusiastic about the company, and I have always respected my work. I am hard-working but very punctual, and the one thing I care about the most is meeting my work goals. And I would do my best to meet the company expectations.”

  • What is your availability?

This question is very important for hiring managers. If you’re a college student, you may not give more time to the work. So I would advise you to please be honest and tell the hiring manager the actual times you can be available. Because once you are hired, it would be very uncomfortable to say that you are not available to work at that time.

Example Answer: “I am available full time on weekends and part-time on weekdays since I am doing college.”

  • What is your biggest strength?

Talk about your strengths that you think would benefit you to get the job. Try to think about something relevant to the work you are about to do.

Example Answer: “My greatest strength is my ability to complete the task on time no matter what. I really love the satisfaction I get from meeting my work goals. This had really motivated me to do better and thus helped me boost my confidence.”

  • What is your biggest weakness?

Talk about your weakness in a way that is not too negative or would not matter that much to your work. For example, do not just say that my biggest weakness is that I have low stamina, so sometimes I get tired easily. That would be a red flag for the hiring manager.

Example Answer: “I am an introvert, but I want to improve my social skills by doing a job in a cooperative environment.”

  • Tell me a time when you worked as a team.

Your answer to this question will tell them how good you are at interacting with people and your behavior towards your co-workers. Next, talk briefly about your experience as a team. Finally, mention your experiences from school or any community center where you worked as a team.

Example Answer: “In my school and college, I had worked so many times as a team for presentations. And not just participated but one time played the role of the leader and guided a group of six students. As a result, I get along with others very easily. I was also a football team player for my whole school years, and therefore, I am very well aware of working as a team.”

  • Have you worked with the courier service industry before?

This question is pretty simple. You have to say yes or no. But be honest because even if you haven’t worked with the courier service before, they will train you anyways. So that really doesn’t matter that much unless you are pretty slow at learning new things.

Example Answer: “No, I don’t have any experience with the courier company, but I am a quick learner.”

  • Are you willing to work in all weather conditions?

If you are applying for the position of courier delivery driver, you already know that you have to deliver packages whether it is raining, cold, or shining. You have no choice for this, so you must obviously say “yes.”

Example Answer: “Yes, I am willing to work no matter the weather conditions.”

  • Are you able to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally 70 pounds?

Obviously, you are going to answer yes if you want the job. But don’t worry, guys, you do not really lift that heavy. Occasionally it’s 50 pounds, but most of the time it is 15 to 20 pounds, so you are good.

Example Answer: “Yes, I can lift to 50 to 70 pounds.”

  • What do you think are the responsibilities of the FedEx worker?

For this question, your research about the company will come into play. You can ask someone you know who has worked with FedEx about their experiences and work responsibilities.

Example Answer: “There are so many responsibilities of the FedEx worker, which includes picking and delivering packages, receiving phone calls from the customers, sorting and scanning packages, retrieving items, loading and unloading the vehicle, and keeping it in good condition. Also to maintain discipline at work and follow the guidelines carefully.”

  • Describe a time when you served excellent customer service.

Talk about the time in your previous job if you have any. And not to worry, they will ask you this question only if you have worked before.

Example Answer: “I was working at the casino, and a customer asked for a drink in my section. I was not one from the drinks section. I was one of the slots technicians, so it was not part of my job. But I always make it a point to go up to a bar and get a drink from the bartender, so they don’t have to wait for a cocktail waitress. And I always make sure that the customers are happy and satisfied.”

  • Tell me about a time when you deal with a stressful situation.

Okay, so everyone has had a time in their life which was so tough to go through. Now, this doesn’t have to be related to work only. You can talk about any moment from your life which you think you deal with and are proud of.

Example Answer: “Last summer, my dad lost his job, which he loved to death because he had heart failure. The company said that he is not able to continue to work. And once my dad recovered completely, we told him about his job. He was actually trying his best to recover quickly, get back to normal life, and start his job. But when he came to find out about it, he was really shocked. We tried our best to keep him motivated all the time. Because of our financial problems, I had to work extra hours regardless of my college. But now things are so much better, and he is doing well.”

  • Describe a time when you had to work for a long period of time.

You can talk about any experience you had, whether at work or studies. Tell them how you cope up with that and what the outcome was.

Example Answer: “Last year, I was preparing for the SAT exams and was doing a content writing internship simultaneously. I was working full time, and my work schedule was so tight. I remember studying daily for five hours in the morning and afterward doing my job till 11 at night, for which I had to write an article of about 3000 words daily. This was my schedule for a whole month. I think the thing that kept me motivated was the fact that I believed in myself and also the satisfaction I got at the end of the day after completing my work and studies.”

  • How can you deal with difficult customers?

This question is asked to check how you interact with annoying customers. The hiring manager will know about your patience level and how you approach the customers from this answer.

Example Answer: “I have worked at the customer’s call center before. That’s the reason why my patience level is so high. I used to deal with difficult customers daily. So now I am really good at approaching the customers not to hurt them even though they are annoyed. I know how to keep the situation cool and calm.”

  • Tell me a time when you managed multiple tasks at once.

You can describe a particular time in your life where you showed your multitasking skills. Give them a brief answer.

Example Answer: “One time, I was babysitting my uncle’s baby twins. They were a year old. At first, I thought it was an easy job, but then I realize it is not as it looks. I looked over them for an entire time. It was not just about keeping them busy but doing my work as well. And since there were two kids, it was 10 times harder. When one asks for something, the other starts crying for it as well. In those five hours, I realize what multitasking is actually called.”

And at the end of an interview, the hiring manager will ask if you have any questions for them. So this is your time and try to ask at least one question regarding the work that will show them that you want to learn about them and are really interested in the job. But please do not ask about the payment, as it is considered improper to talk about the salary directly at the first meeting. So keep patience, and they will talk about it once they think you are a perfect candidate for the job.

You can ask them what training they provide for your position, their future work expectations, or how the typical work week looks like at FedEx. So these were the 15 questions you will be asked in the interview with FedEx. Remember, the answers give you an idea of how you should answer the questions to pass the interview. Your answers should be your own, honest and real. Let us know in the comments how your interview went and what questions you were asked! Prepare well, and best of luck with the interview!
