When there is any fire damage, the best option is to be abated. The firefighter-paramedics is a unique agency that is responsible for attending to any emergency fire outbreak. They are saddled with the responsibility of abating the fire, rescuing victims, and, if possible, providing first aid treatment. In this article, we will discuss Fire Fighter Job Description.

The firefighters are specially trained, thereby equipping them with all paramedics skills needed to successfully execute their duties. They are often found in all cities in the United States of America, and their salary depends on ranks, years of experience, and the nature of the organization. Sometimes the team can be paid on a contract depending on the nature of the job executed. 

Introduction

Fire is one of the natural disasters that claim lives and properties in a community. Although fire outbreaks could be natural, most of the firebreaks are from industry and domestic areas. Natural fire outbreaks could be through volcanic eruption, in which the eruption is accompanied by intense heat and fire. Such outbreaks could be such distractions, thereby claiming lives and properties. Most of the fire hazards in our community are due to the civilian’s carelessness in their different homes. The wrong usage of electrical appliances has been one of the major causes of fire outbreaks in homes. 

To avoid a fire outbreak, one must be more preventive than having a corrective mindset. That is, extreme care must be taken in handling electronic gadgets. When there is a fire hazard, there is always a need to stop it. Many people often try to stop fire outbreaks but most times unsuccessful. This is because they are not well trained or skills enough to perform the duty. A special agent responsible for monitoring and controlling fire hazards is called a Firefighter Paramedics. The firefighter-paramedics are specially trained and equipped to attend to any emergency regarding fire outbreak. He/She also attends to fire accident victims by providing first aid treatment before taking them to the hospital. 

Qualifications Requirements For A Fire Fighter Paramedics

A firefighter-paramedic is well recognized in the United States of America because of its sensitivity. In reality, any life-saving profession deserves an accolade. Due to the profession’s sensitivity, a firefighter must be educated by possessing a degree in any relevant course or an equivalent certificate from an accredited institution. Apart from being educated, firefighter-paramedics must qualify for the recruitment process. A firefighter must have qualified for professional courses that involve the citizens’ health and safety and how to combat fire outbreaks effectively. Furthermore, he/she must have acquired enough skills needed before going to the field of operation. Such skills can be medical, that is, how to safely use first aid to fire hazard victims and various ways to stop fire outbreaks effectively. Also, he/she must have been educated on various types of firebreaks and how they can be handled and controlled methodically. Firefighters must also be trained on using firefighting tools such as chainsaws, axes, fire extinguishers, ladder, oxygen mask, e.t. c. 

Furthermore, firefighter-paramedics must possess a good team spirit. This attribute enables him/her to cooperate with others in the field of operation. He/She must also be proactive and possess the ability to reason as fast as possible. He/She must also be a good decision-maker as any mistake can lead to an individual’s death. Additionally, he/She must be patient and have good listening skills. He/She must have the ability to persevere and endures difficult situations. He/She must be honest and must render selfless service. 

In conclusion,  a firefighter-paramedics must be equipped with all the necessary skills and equipment needed before he/she will be sent to the field of operation. All these are required for their safety and effectiveness in the field of operation. 

Roles and Duties  of a Fire Fighter Paramedics 

The roles of firefighter-paramedics are very crucial and important. Such roles are also sensitive as they concern the lives and properties of the citizens. The roles of the fire  paramedics include: 

  • Fire prevention: Preventive strategy is more often preferred to corrective strategy. The fire fighting department helps prevent fire hazards and outbreak through education and public awareness on handling electrical appliances at home and industry without causing firebreak. The department also effectively trains the citizens on how to control fire outbreak before it becomes intense. They also educate the citizens on the possible steps to take in case of an outbreak. 
  • Domestic and industrial fire fighting: The firefighters help to combat any fire outbreak. They are especially skilled in how to quench a very intense fire outbreak. For any fire outbreak domestically and industrially, an emergency number will be dialed, and this will be responded to by the firefighters. 
  • Search and rescue duty: The firefighters are also trained to save citizens trapped in burning buildings or apartments. Due to the skills and with the help of their equipment and coat, they courageously enter a burning building to save lives and important properties. The team also helps to search for fire hazard victims for a proper medical and death record. 
  • Medical emergency services: The firefighters are paramedics with medical training, especially those involving first-aid treatment. The firefighters offer first aid treatment to the fire incident victims who still have a chance of surviving. This treatment is essential before such a victim is transported to the hospital. The first aid treatment may include artificial resuscitation in a collapsing victim, applying ice to a burnt victim to prevent shock, and other applicable first aid treatment.

In the United States of America, the firefighters are under the country’s service, and the country is responsible for the payment of their wages and salary. A firefighter’s salary structure depends on ,education, especially those involving paramedical skills, the years of experience, and his/her ranks or contributions. In the United States of America, a firefighter receives approximately $50 000 per annum, although an individual with relevant years of experience can receive approximately $100,000 per annum.
